A Community-Based Research Recap

Recently, we conducted a community-based research regarding the different health programs in the municipality of Bantay. The municipality of Bantay is an example of a community that is deeply committed to the health and wellness of its citizens. Bantay is devoted to advocating for the well-being of its residents and gives top priority to projects that improve health. The municipality does everything possible to ensure the welfare of its citizens, from providing easily accessible healthcare services and facilities to offering comprehensive educational programs that emphasize prevention. This study will focus on two specific health programs – the ‘Kilatis Kutis Campaign’ and the ‘National Rabies Prevention and Control Program.’

Originally, we were assigned to research about the literature of Bantay, specifically the famous Bantayeno writer, Pedro Bukaneg. However, we weren't able to find historians, books, or any factual information regarding the said topic. Hence, we conducted a research on health programs instead.

March 8, 2024,  my groupmates and I went to the Rural Health Unit (RHU) to conduct the said interview. However, we weren't notified that a communication letter is required before health professionals could give out information. We were in a dilemma. Should we continue or come back another day? Postponing the said interview is rather impossible during the time as we were chasing deadlines. Thanks to one of my members' connection, we were able to gather information in the end.

During the compiling of information, we were met with, yet again, another obstacle. The cellular phone my group mate used to take photographs during the whole process of conducting the research, unfortunately, wasn't function properly. Hence, the RHU personnel we interviewed provided us with photographs from their health operations in different barangays in Bantay

Overall, this community based research was a wonderful experience. During the conducting of the study, we were met with obstacles. However, we managed to get back on track until we finished our work. One thing I learned from this journey is that if we are faced with certain fallbacks, the best thing to do is to get up and carry on with your life. This is because in the end, all will be well.
